As a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and aesthetician, I see the relationship between what we eat, how we feel and the condition of our skin. Diet has a profound influence on our biology, our chemistry and our overall physical and emotional health. Every day, I see clients who struggle with skin disorders and premature aging. Some of these struggles can be addressed with dietary considerations. Small changes in what we eat can make big differences in our skin and how we feel about ourselves.
Eating well and eating enough are two common hurdles for many people. Our fast paced lives often leave little time to plan meals and prepare wholesome food to eat. Fast foods, prepared foods and junk foods are easy to reach for and fill us up. Unfortunately, these foods do not nourish our bodies the way that our bodies need nourishment. Also, the signals that are sent from packaged foods are not the correct ones that signal our brains and bodies that we are fed and full. These “fake” foods are engineered to taste amazing and are often full of bad fats and sugars, which make us tired, continuously hungry and unhappy. Our skin is dull, often congested and dehydrated and showing signs of premature aging. Fine lines, wrinkles, laxity and a dull tone make us look older than we are.
Fresh, whole foods are full of nutrients, delicious and allow us to feel full and be completely nourished. Eating a wide variety of whole foods (food that comes from the ground or is minimally processed) will give you all the vitamins and minerals that you require to be well, have your best skin and be your optimal weight. You may be surprised to know that preparing whole foods does not mean endless hours in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove! It is possible to create excellent meals inexpensively using local ingredients in a short time. Taking the time to prepare your meals and snacks in advance will save you money and will empower you to take charge of your health and wellness!
In the coming month at About Face and Body Laser and Wellness Clinic, we will be making a move to our new location at 1098 London Road, Sarnia (November 16th is our moving date and join us for our Open House on November 21st!). We will enjoy a large educational space in our new location and will offer classes and workshops for you on a wide range of topics, including nutrition! I will also be offering nutritional counselling for anyone interested in adopting a healthy diet of real, whole foods.
I look forward to expanding our range of wellness options and offering my talents as a nutritionist. Clean, mainly plant based eating has changed my life and I would love to help you to enjoy a positive nutritional change! Call for a free consultation. 519-542-0079
